Klaas & Courtney

I am Klaas, and this is my daughter Courtney.

From the moment we started planning the wedding, we knew there would be a father daughter dance. But I will admit, the thought of it was scary. I have never been good at dancing and anything that involves coordinating my hands and feet at the same time has always been a challenge. Still, I was not about to miss the chance to make this moment special for Courtney.

We found Cameron and Quinn’s program and it made the whole process so much easier. Instead of trying to squeeze lessons into a busy schedule, we could learn at home whenever it worked for us. Our living room became our dance floor and those evenings turned into something I will never forget. There were plenty of laughs, a few missteps that were mostly mine, and a lot of patience from Courtney. It was not just about learning the steps, it was about spending time together before she started her new chapter.

The night we finally nailed the routine from start to finish was a turning point. We looked at each other and knew we were ready. On the wedding day we danced in front of everyone and the smiles and applause made all the practice worth it.

If I could give advice to anyone in my position, I would say this. Do not let nerves keep you from trying. The memories you make along the way will mean far more than how perfect the steps are.

Now every time I hear our song I am taken back to that dance floor with my daughter and it is a moment I will carry with me forever.
